HEAT SAFETY TIPS AND TREATMENT

As CMA Fest comes to a close Sunday night, officials continue to urge fans to take necessary precautions to avoid illness and injury due to surging temperatures.

On Thursday, 69 festival goers received on-site medical treatment and 8 were transported to area medical facilities for symptoms ranging from heat-related illnesses, sunburn, alcohol overconsumption and blisters from improper foot care. On Friday, 92 were treated on site and 7 were transported. On Saturday, 79 were treated on site and 5 were transported.

Temperatures reached 90+ degrees Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with the same forecast expected for Sunday. Heat-related illness is the number one concern of the LifeFlight Event Medicine team, which has provided CMA Fest emergency medical coverage since 2009 and is the event’s official EMS and medical provider.

CMA Fest offers a number of measures to help festival goers stay hydrated, including 40 misting fans throughout the festival’s footprint and free water stations at official festival stages located at Ascend Park, on Broadway, at Riverfront Park and Walk of Fame Park. CMA Fest has also added numerous additional $1 water locations in response to rising temperatures.
CMA Fest will continue to message heat safety and hydration tips to fans through the CMA Fest app and at official stages throughout the remainder of the festival.
